Turns out the lining of the digestive tract possesses thousands of nerve endings, but they're not linked to the brain. These outposts account for us experiencing "gut reactions" over things. Since they're not connected to the brain, scientists refer to the sensations received thru them as a 'sixth sense,' which explains y some ideas we get about things are truly felt, not thought. weird huh.
-info courtesy of The Book of Secrets by Deepak Chopra. an interesting book i'm reading now (yeah i know i'm reading s/t), which i'd recommend to most. it's all about this finding ur true self and the answer to life hooplah, and mom of course gave it to me for xmas, but i'm actually finding parts of it interesting.
